How to Play

Beat the dealer by building a hand as close to 21 as you can — without going over. Here is everything you need to sit down and play with confidence.

The objective

Finish with a total closer to 21 than the dealer's, without exceeding it. Go over 21 and you bust — an automatic loss. It is you against the dealer alone; the other players have no bearing on your result.

Card values

The Ace is the one card that flexes: it counts as 11 unless that would bust you, in which case it counts as 1.

The deal

• You receive two cards, both face up.
• The dealer takes two cards — one face up, one face down. The hidden "hole" card is revealed only on the dealer's turn.

When you stand, the dealer reveals the hole card and plays by fixed rules — no judgement calls. The dealer must keep hitting until reaching 17 or more, then must stand. Because the dealer's play is fully determined, every hand is transparent and repeatable.

How a hand is settled

• You bust — your total exceeds 21; the hand is lost immediately.
• Dealer busts — the dealer exceeds 21; you win regardless of your total.
• You win — your total is closer to 21 than the dealer's without going over.
• Push — your total ties the dealer's; your stake is returned.
